Our mission
At Yerba Matters, our mission is to bring better energy into everyday life through one of nature's most time-honoured rituals — yerba maté.
People are moving away from overstimulating energy drinks and unpredictable coffee crashes, towards cleaner, more balanced sources of focus and stamina. Yerba maté sits at that intersection — naturally caffeinated, rich in antioxidants, and rooted in centuries of shared ritual.
Plant-based. Naturally energising. Built for focus. Designed for modern life.
The Yerba Matters story
Yerba Matters was founded by Marina Hadjitofi and Christine Crawford-Brunt — two wellness enthusiasts introduced by a mutual friend who instinctively saw how naturally they'd connect. That intuition proved right almost immediately.
What began as a meeting quickly became a close friendship, built on shared curiosity, energy and perspective. It was through that same curiosity that they were first introduced to maté — and quickly fell in love not just with the drink, but with the culture surrounding it.
Across Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, maté is more than a beverage. It's a ritual — shared among friends, passed hand to hand. While matcha was rising fast across the UK, they couldn't understand why yerba maté hadn't found its place in the same way. With no dedicated British maté brand in the space, Yerba Matters was born.
3,000 years of ritual
Yerba maté originates with the indigenous Guaraní people of South America, who first drank the leaves of the Ilex paraguariensis plant over 3,000 years ago. Traditionally prepared in a hollowed gourd and sipped through a metal straw — the bombilla — maté represents connection as much as consumption.
Today it remains a daily ritual for millions. It's present in over 90% of households in Argentina, woven into the rhythm of everyday life — from football dressing rooms to music studios.

The trio
Smooth, balanced and naturally energising. Yerba mate, oat, a whisper of vanilla.
Cacao-rich, earthy, indulgent — without the afternoon slump. Real cocoa, real lift.
One minute. Done.

One generous spoon of your chosen flavour into your favourite mug.

Top with hot oat milk (or water, or whatever you like). Stir for ten seconds.

That's it. Slow-burn focus for the next four hours. No coffee fidget.
Fuel your focus

"I have an obsession with yerba maté. It's on my rider. It's my everyday drink — especially if I'm in the studio really late."
— Sabrina Carpenter
A new energy culture
As consumers shift away from sugary energy drinks and overstimulating caffeine cycles, yerba maté is emerging as a new category of functional energy.
Maté delivers a unique combination of natural caffeine, theobromine and antioxidants — supporting alertness, focus and sustained energy. Healthline highlights benefits including improved focus, enhanced physical performance, and antioxidant support. GQ calls it "the energy drink of choice for athletes."
But beyond the science, maté is something more human — a ritual of presence, connection and rhythm. We've reimagined it in an instant, accessible format. No complexity. No ceremony required. Just a clean, functional energy ritual you can take anywhere.
